Designing under her own label, Rose Studio since 1997, Guo Pei has been known for designing for celebs and the Beijing Olympics but the work she showed on the catwalk last Monday was beyond couture. Fantastical creations - a fusion of traditional Asian techniques, a highly feminine sensibility, and a passion for decoration made for truly extravagant clothing. The models, perched on the most delicate of shoes, made their stately way down a gigantic catwalk while their images were blown up on screens behind them, letting the audience absorb every detail of embroidery and jewel encrusted - well gorgeouness is the best word for it.
