Just wait until they add Thunderbolt to the design. I know more than one person who never even looked at the MBA for its lack of a high speed port.
Yeah, Thunderbolt and Sandy Bridge and I am in.

if it hasn't been said before, then I'll say it. It'll be out when its ready.
You can't rush jailbreaks, there are bugs and glitches that have to be ironed out first. Even then you'd still have to compile it into a nice neat package so idiots won't brick their idevice from not following simple directions that require more than 3 steps. Just have patience and enjoy the OFW while you still can before you jump over to the jailbreak and appreciate its offerings more...when it's released that is.
an easy way to keep up to date is to follow the normal iphone devs and hackers on twitter like geohotz, musclenerd, comex, ...i'm sure there are others, they always post updates and repost news links and such.

Steve,
I'm not sure about Quark Xpress 8 as I currently use Quark Xpress 7 but I have been using Quark Xpress since version version 2.1 and as far as I can remember (at least since version 3.1), control + shift doesn't zoom. Control (by itself, not using any other keys) is zoom in and Control + option is zoom out. Also the "Alt" key or as most Mac people call it the "option" key should allow you to move the page around. You mentioned both the "Alt" key and the "option" key in your original post. They are the same thing. Are you trying to use the "command" key to move the page around?
Sometime after version 4, Quark added an option in the Preferences allowing you to change the behavior of the "Control" key. If you go to the Preferences/Input Settings you can change the "control" key to zoom or to contextual menu. Before the normal behavior was to use the "control key" to zoom in but now the default settings is to have the "control key" to activate the contextual menu. And you can zoom in and out of text boxes.
Things might have changed in version 8 but I would guess that they are the same as version 7. Version 8 might have some different Preference settings as well (like changing what the "option" key does), it is worth checking into.
I wish you the best of luck.

I can't say I'm not surprised, but I'm glad we have other options (that run well) at this time. I just hope this doesn't carry over to Microsoft Office (which has a separate Mac team from Vista I understand)

I'm seduced by all the possibilities. As a visual artist without much tech training. I want to sell my kits and artwork online. so many paths.
HELP !
And later, help other artists get a web presence.(selling bandwidth?)
Any opinions? Could anyone lay out the steps towards a prosperous, informative, functioning website.
I have rapidweaver, macromedia studio mx 2004 and adobe cs. I have the artistic skills, photos, is it just a matter of creating it on the computer, finding a host and going from there/ what makes a good host/ I want to be able to sell and reach lots of people. I have such a good product!

As I posted in a more obscure thread,
Never forget that the zune brought us this:
http://static.flickr.com/103/294929001_b67b0b5225.jpg
I still find it a little disturbing but I think it's also possibly the single funniest thing I've ever seen involving Microsoft.
I have never actually used a zune. They looked ok really, except the brown one (IMHO).
Everytime you buy a Zune an Asian girl has an orgasm...

I was trying to keep mine distanced from the official versions - so comics sans and the 'IPod' are my own quirks.
right, but the lower case "i" followed by a capitalized word such as Mac or Pod is how apple spells these things. Saying you want to make a proper ad where you go against apples way of doing things is like it weren't even an apple product. IPod is no different in that regard than iPood, or Dell iPod etc...
you want to distance your self and be unique, fine, but unless you're making an advert for something other than an apple product, you actually kinda do have to spell it properly.

I have to agree here.
Until they find games that the 3D is actually part of game play (it is essential to the actual game and not just add on prettyness), it's just a nice extra but it's a gimmick and not enough to actually sell it over other devices. ANd I really don't see how 3d, at least how it is implemented in the Nintendo, can really be implemented to be part of game play and not just something to pretty up the screen. Sure, it adds to the experience, but it's not essential to the experience. You could play a similar game on another game player easily enough, just not as "pretty".
Any console/hand held in the end, if it is going to sell itself for playing games, has to get the games that make people want it to play them.
Not to rain on your parade but there will never be a game that requires 3D for the 3DS. It will always be optional because not everyone can use it/see it or at the very least can play it for as long before they are fatigued. Game designers probably won't be too keen to limit their market like that for something that would work just as well as a 2D game.
As far as iOS gaming and the virtual joystick kludge, I agree. It is like how in some very early console games/programs you had a full on mouse cursor that you controlled with the D-pad. How long did it take them to figure out that was a horrible idea? You have to design for the device, and not many developers are doing it (great examples of how not to do it are the various RPGs with maybe the exception of Battleheart but even that is a bit clunky). Personally, I hope someone ports a game like Aquaria or Ocarina of Time because I think touch based gaming is much better at music than console or keyboard & mouse because it can just give you a keyboard or some other simulation.

Firstly, I am new to the forums and my first post and subsequent updates manageed to P!$$ off a lot of people so I hope I get this one right!
I am a convert from Windows to PC and as such still learning!
I have a mobile broadband dongle from T-Mobile (UK) which I have had for a number of years now and it has worked, consistently, extremely well on my windows based laptop. This was not the case when I plugged it in to my 13" MacBook Pro that I have just purchased as part of my conversion.
I concluded I must be doing something wrong.
The modem is a Huawei E220 and I have done all the firmware upgrades etc that all the other forums seem to suggest.
The last suggestion from T-Mobile was that I utilise a more up to date broadband dongle to install the latest connection manager software on to my MBP. I have done this.
I now have no error messages when I plug the dongle in to the MBP and I know the driver is OK etc because I do manage to connect and surf the web etc.
My issue is that after a short period of time (this can vary between 1min and 5mins) the Dongle appears to hang or freeze.
The light on the dongle remains blue but no data is transferring.
I have installed little snitch also which shows me the red outgoing data but no green incomming on the little display in the menu bar.
I have made assumptions that the driver, connection manager, firmware, little snitch or firewall etc are all ok because I am gettign a connection at some point for a short period of time.
I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues or can indeed assist me in the resolution?
I am wondering if it is a setting on the MBP because of the device failing after a period of time?
The OS id Snow Leopard and I believe I am up to date with my software releases.
Any help gratefully received !

Ok so here's the story...
My iPhone's back panel was destroyed so I bought a red one off eBay all happy that it would work out good and all. I get the red panel a few days ago and I take apart my iPhone to do the swap, but I'm stomped because I am unable to take off the railings on the side of the iPhone.
So you will be getting a basically perfect (front condition) iPhone with a red back that you will have to put on yourself. It comes with the headphones, USB cable, dock and the box.
The iPhone WORKS PERFECTLY and it just requires someone to transfer the railings from one housing to another.
Once you've done that, you will have a red iPhone (something that maybe a few people have!)
Shipping will be $10 within Canada, and $15 in the United States of America.
International will be $25
Buy it now price is $250 if you'd like the iPhone and know how to do the procedure then buy it! One more time, this iPhone is in AWESOME condition, and will be in mint since you will be putting a new back on it.
I have already taken apart the iPhone and all you have to do is transfer the railings and put it back together.

MSG ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I will post pics when I get home from work around 5ish.

OMG! That would be awesome - a phone that's a GPS Navigation that you could load where you're going in the phone with relevant picture pointers 'you are now passing MacDonalds on your right handside' and picture flashes up on your phone of the location taken by another user of Googlemaps... while you're driving in the car...
That's way more than I thought the iPhone would be... if it is the iPhone.
If it is then Apple will have pulled another 'miracle of modern technologies' off!
I think this is good thing!

Is it supposed to be a hardware fix and a new edition of the PS3 or will it be some sort of firmware fix.
Has the current PS3 even got a proper hardware scaler ? If not it will have to be hardware update.

I think most people wanting to game should go for a console instead.. But then again you can download emulators & games and run it on your iphone or ipad, but obviously not legal as far as I know.. But It can be done..
I think Nintendo better watch out :P. Still I think the fact that the new Nintendo DS has 3D support means it's probably going to be a better gaming experience then a iPhone or iPod Touch..
The games that are available on iOS devices are not of the highest quality, infact most of the games are crap, IMO.. I've tried FPS shooters, the experience just isn't the same, some games are awesome for iOS particularly racing games & games that take advantage of the gyro..
But in all honesty I haven't seen a game yet on iOS that really blew me away, so as far as gaming goes I think getting a console is the better choice..

The standard resolution for DVD is 720 x 576 pixels, so 800x600 should do the trick.
For myself, when I doubt the quality of a movie or whatever I want to play on a TV/DVD set, I burn the files on a DVD-RW first. In most cases the quality is better on TV than it seems on my computerscreen. Sure the fact my monitor has higher resolution than my TV and the distance from what you watch your TV (lots more than from where you look at my monitor) will play a role.
Good luck
