Jim Beam Fiji Island Party

Last week I flew out to Fiji with a bunch of my beautiful friends to perform at the Jim Beam Fiji island parties! Can I just say...best job ever!!! We had so much fun it was ridiculous. Here's the breakdown of my day to day blog.

Day 1:
Early flight this morning. Not loving all these crack of dawn flights I keep getting lately, but it's 5am at the airport once again. We arrived at our hotel and I was seriously loving my huge executive suite beach front room. Amazing. We had a yummy dinner watching the Fijian fire dancers.

Day 2:
We have a quick tech run and rehearsal on the stage before we hit the pool for a bit of swimming and cocktails. Life is tough sometimes.

Tonight is the first night of the Jim Beam parties. Angry Anderson is the host for the shows and is so sweet, we love Angry! The girls and I performed two routines both choreographed by the wonderful Ame Delves, the first on the main stage wearing coloured one piece swimsuits and visors and the second on a wet stage wearing black swimsuits with metallic shoulder pads and fingerless black gloves. The performance on the wet stage was so much fun! We got to kick and splash the water, it was very sexy and looked great! The majority of the audience were standing in the pool so we splashed them and they splashed us back! Great fun.

Day 3:
Today's working activities were really hard to take...not! We went on jet boat rides and banana boat rides and danced and swam in the pool for hours listening to a live band! It was the most beautiful day today also, so hot and sunny!

In the afternoon we took a boat ride out to an island not far from Denarau for the evenings shows. The girls were all styled in various tribal inspired costumes and all performed a different style of act while the guests arrived and the night got underway. Some girls were stilt walkers, others were sexy human snakes in trees and a couple of girls did acrobatic tricks through the crowd.
A band took to the main stage and began playing a mash-up of tracks and that was my cue to take the stage just in front of the main stage. I performed my contortion show in a black and gold swarovski encrusted catsuit, black stilettos and red and black feather headpiece with black fingerless gloves. It was so good performing with a live band behind me! I loved it and they were great. Below is the video of my performance.

After my performance Shannon Noll and band did their set, followed by the Hoodoo Gurus! The girls and I were front row barefoot on the sand singing and dancing watching the Gurus. They were fantastic! We were so close I was actually sitting on the stage at one point! I bumped in to Jimmy Barnes backstage and Angry Anderson was there too. All the guys were really friendly and lovely. After the show we caught the boat back to Denarau with the Hoodoo Gurus which was fun. It was an amazing warm night with not a cloud in the sky and full of stars.

Day 4:
Another day spent lounging poolside with pretty coloured drinks and music. Rick and Brad from the Hoodoo Gurus joined us for a swim, chat and some chill out time.

Our last performance was tonight. Three big stages made a half semi circle with large round tables and chairs filling the centre on the sand of the beach. We performed another routine choreographed by Ame Delves, all wearing different styles of costumes again. Some girls wore black swimsuits with military inspired jackets and hats, others wore high waisted satin and lace underwear with white shirts, patterned stockings and white top hats. I wore black lycra leggings, a black fishnet top, black corset with swarovski stone detailing, silver reflector aviators and a long red mullet wig! Very crazy but looked really cool.
After our performance Jimmy Barnes and band took to the stage. Jimmy was incredible as always. We once again danced and sang barefoot on the sand and had so much fun. After Jimmy's set we all partied in the pool until the wee hours of the morning.

Day 5:
The hotel is like a ghost town. There must be a lot of sore heads out there this morning. After two hours sleep we're up and packing before our flight back to Sydney in a few hours. It's a bumpy plane trip but we're back in Australia. Wow. It really was the best job EVER! I had the best time and wish I was back in that pool dancing all day and night to all that great music!
