A Day of Healing
Friends, before we begin I'd like to ask if anyone has any feelings left over from yesterday.
Male Pattern Boldness experienced an unfortunate assault in the comments section on Wednesday, May 19, that may have left some readers feeling scared, angry, or confused. Let me assure you that I am safe, you are safe, and it will always be my priority to keep MPB a secure, welcoming space for all.
Sadly, the Internet has allowed a few marginal, admittedly articulate people to have a public voice disproportionate to their number. They invent fantasy personas complete with handsome fiances, jet-setting lifestyles, and world-class fabric shopping excursions. Rest assured these loners are more likely sitting at home in their pajamas eating Honeycombs straight from the box and listening to Death Metal.
They rant, but they can do us no harm. But they need us to believe they are Very Important People. So I say, why burst their bubble? You are amazing -- and SOOOOOOOO Selfish!
And now let's get on with business, shall we? You'll be happy to know that my physical healing continues apace.
The human body really is a miraculous thing and that's no joke.
And what of the dress, the dress (whose name henceforth I shall abbreviate to TED; I think you know why). Look!
Not bad, huh?
I ended up making those front gathers twice, as my first stab ended up a few inches too high given Cathy's long waist. I have some work yet to do in the neckline area before adding sleeves, stitching front to back, hemming, etc. But you get the general idea.
I haven't yet decided how best to respond to the gift-pattern reciprocation dilemma. I do like the idea of "pay it forward" and I may post a pattern giveaway in the days ahead. That said, I do have a Y-front men's underwear pattern I think would be perfect for you-know-who's you-know-what and maybe she'd post some photos of him in them.
Friends, that's it. It's all about TED today. Having run out of my favorite fair-trade Guatemalan beans I have switched to a pre-packaged French Roast from Whole Foods and, needless to say, it's not as delicious. But it will have to suffice.
How do you start your morning, loyal followers?
Can't get this out of my head:
