Thanks for the replies, I will try and remove the stupid heat spreaders, but it seems pretty tightly fastened, otherwise i will try and source a 1gb stick wothout a heat spreader,

Yeh, I think last time it was something like 28 days...

Either way, it hasn't got anything to do with stingy; let us say for the sake of argument that I purchased a Dell computer today, and vista is released on 1st February. Surely you're not expecting Dell to ship you Vista free? No Way - it's not good business sense.

Apple Hardware and Software probably have different division headings so you can't argue that the above analysis is not viable.

For them to hand out free copies of Leopard because someone bought Tiger a week before Leopard was launched. Is not much of a big deal for them as the only money they will lose out on is the cost of the packaging, postage and the physical disks. About �5? To keep you sweet so you purchase further products and remain loyal �5 is nothing. Its probably less than that! :) To duplicate another copy of Leopard to replace the one given away will be miniscule.

Ok since AT&T is cracking down on free tethering via MyWi, Pdanet, or TetherMe, Developers are trying to be stealthy about it.

The way you can test if these apps are hidden from AT&T is to actually purchase the metered tethering plan for one month

Then install PdaNet and see if it shows up on your bill.

I have been reading the last few posts about saving the 4.3.1 SHSH Blobs "before its too late" and I couldn't understand how it could ever be too late, after all, how can my iPad get updated with anything unless its connected to iTunes.

I looked at TinyUmbrella and it looks likes this only applies to 3G iPads.. Could someone confirm if this is the case? And if not, what I (as a non-3G iPad 2 owner) needs to do now..

Currently I am on 4.3 and am waiting for a working Jailbreak before I do anything else regarding firmware.

Wondering if the MB138LL/A Mini with C2D 1.83 and 1gb of Ram will handle 720p videos. I have ripped many of my movies to mkv files and I am worried that the GMA built on Video card will cause me issues. Some of my files range from 1.56gb to 4.6gb in size. I pick up the machine on the weekend so any help woudld be appreciated.

I believe as well that it is a hard drive issue. When the screen shows a blinking folder with a question mark, it means the system cannot find a bootable OS. I would recommend that you restart the computer with the install disk and run Disk Utility.

"CHEAP GAS!" is fast becoming a firm favorite.

You can filter by cheapest gas price within your zip code or allow IPhone to detect your current location. Also filter by closest gas station.
Recently I had virtually run out of gas with just under 1 km worth of fuel showing. The app enabled me to determine where the closest gas station was and the price they were charging. Maps and directions to the nearest, or any gas station are given.
People who have downloaded this app maintain it and keep prices current by uploading whenever possible.

5-0 Radio is another app that allows you to listen in to Police/Fire/ Emergency channels as well as Ham Radio stations around the world.

Just downloaded "HBO GO".You have to be a cable subscriber to HBO though.
Looking forward to watching The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm , etc on the IPhone when nothing better to do.

Here's a little criticism for the designers or whomever.

I think the logo and title in the upper left corner could use a different treatment... something more dynamic and interesting. How about if the logo was larger, tilted a couple degrees counter-clockwise, and somewhat cropped at the bottom and top. The title could use some work too.

Does Anyone know what typeface the MR title is set in?

Comex has gotten it jailbroken on the 14th but it still needs a little refining, it is Untethered not tethered as its userland exploit
