What I don't get is what you are asking? You asked if the card is fast enough. You have the camera, you have the card, try it out. Like I said, that card works fine for me with that setup and they're cheap. Do you really care about read speed when you are dumping your card at the end of the day? Do you NEED the fastest card? You need something that works and that card works.
And a card reader... how about $5 for a USB2? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/462560-REG/Jobo_SE9231_SE9231_23_in_1_USB_2_0.html

i'd have gone for a 15 inch tibook myself, man, but if you don't need the portability, that eMac is a pretty decent hoss at 1 GHz with that load of RAM. got the 1 Gig on my Tibook myself, it really makes things snappy. VP6 is going to make windows really easy for you to let go of though, i hear it's slow as molasses. and i do mean mole asses.

I expect them at either NAB in April or WWDC. I imagine they will be MUCH thinner than they are now, and will likely have an isight built-in and maybe HDMI. The 24" will probably replace the 23." Outside of that I do not expect much from Apple in the display department. Should be interesting to see if Apple goes with the Glossy Displays (or maybe will make both and give customers an option).
If I were a betting man, I'd bet on new displays (or at least a price drop) at NAB. ;)

Want to put up a 4-disk RAID5 array (not to boot off, just storage, boot drive will be from an SSD) into the 4x drive bays on the Mac Pro 5,1 and don't want to use the Apple RAID card that takes advantage of the internal drive channels as I herd bad things about it the apple card and its not too hot on specs either.
So I am pondering whether to go for something like the:
ARC-1880LP
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Areca/ARC1880LP/
With this card I'll have 4x 3TB drives in RAID5 and 2x SSD in 5"25 with Multi-mount adapter. Will probably have to use the two onboard SATA2 ports for the SSD's considering there's only one set SATA power/data connector set left that I can use that was intended for the ODD. Or is there more sata/power connectors there or can I buy/connect more?
Or use something like the Areca ARC-1880-ix-12 that can be connected to some 12x internal drives via SAS expanders. With this card I can connect both the 4x 3TB HDD RAID5 volume and 2x 6G SSD (non-raid) to it at same time.
Does anyone have any experience with any of the above cards? e.g ease of setting up, bugs, reliability etc. Also does it get messy cable wise when you don't use the apple raid card and run the SAS expanders to the drives? How did you go about flashing the card to EFI firmware ?
Which other 6G RAID cards can you recommend that I can connect 4x HDD in RAID5 and 2x 6G SSD's (non-raid) to, if there's a good one that takes advantage of internal drive channels it would be a plus.

As we all know the main focus for mac's is not gaming, however with my Mac pro recently arriving with the 3.2 quad and a 5870 GPU; what kind of gaming performance increase will I notice vs my 2010 iMac i7 with the mobility GPU card in it? I really don't want to disrespect any of you guys by asking this question as this is not why I bought my Mac Pro, and this is not a "gaming" forum, however I do game a little and I could not find any benchmarks that put the two side by side.
Let's use black ops, and maybe crysis as a means for making a comparison and any other key games you can think of, btw all gaimg is done via boot camp with windows 7 ult.

So, I think im going to buy the newest 2011 13" MBP today, but my friend is overing to trade his mid-2009 2.8 C2D MBP for it because he wants a 13".
Do you think the trade is worth it? The extra space would be really nice. Would you do it and which benchmarks faster? Which is better on paper? Thanks!!

Just an update......... it worked for me in my hotel room !
Unfortunately two issues
It takes anywhere from 1 to 10 tries to make it connect
And
My hotel wireless is too slow to keep a channel without skipping (but that is not the iPads fault)
So thanks for the help by the way !

I went to the 3G launch at cpw at teesside park. Queue was about 20/30 people at 7am. It opened at 8. If you know it it went from cpw down to brantano. Sold out of 16gbs about half way through the queue.
I think the town centres will be less popular and should be a better bet if you really want a particular model. Plus there's more shops - I think mbro still has two o2's and a cpw?
I hope it's easier this time as I don't fancy another early start. Hopefully other carriers will have it on thursday too to dilute the queues
Yeah, I know where you meen, I'll prob stick to one of the centres, live in yarm so they are all 10-15min drive away.
Should help that o2 are only offering them to existing customers though.

can you plug in the power cable both ways?
And that's what she said. Be careful, because if you plug it in the wrong way, the universe will be sucked into another dimension.

Let's hope that's the case! My iPad 2 is a paperweight without jailbreak :)
I can't wait to install infinifolders again, hate having 3 different game folders. Also retina pad will be nice. Actually do miss installous I purchased an few ipad apps that I wish I would have tried first (Yes I actually do buy apps, just like trying first). Damn GV Connect was supposed to let me make calls using Google voice, but you have to install another app that is only iPhone sized.

I don't think this is the way to get music recommended. You really want to trawl through my collection of 14,000 songs? On top of that, other user's libraries as well?!
Either you have too much free time, or you'll realize how pointless this is.
I will just mention artists who I'd recommend - John Mayer, Newton Faulkner, Damien Rice (if you like acoustic), Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert (instrumental rock), Deadmau5, The Prodigy (electro/dance), Pete Rock, CL Smooth, LL Cool J, Jedi Mind Tricks (Hip-hop/Rap), and some Ministry of Sound Chilled albums if you wanna relax.

My husband worked for 911 at the time and gave me a quick call. I headed down to help. I manned an ambulance in NJ about 20 miles from NYC so the full time EMT's could head to the Ferry sites where they were hoping for victims to treat (I say hoping because that would have meant people to save - but sadly they never came)

I'm trying to choose between a new stock-configured Dual GHz from Apple and a 3-month-old QS which includes a 3-yr. AppleCare plan (minus 3 mos.), a gig of ram, a SuperDrive, and an external 40-gig Maxtor FW drive--each one for the approximate same price ($2350). In other words, at the educator's price, I can get the new one at about the same price as the used one w/extras. On the other hand, the used one's AppleCare will not cover the 17" Apple LCD Display I'll be buying later w/out a rebate; whereas, Apple's currently offering a $200 rebate when customers buy the cpu and display together.
Because benchtests reveal little difference in performance between these two models, and some posters have even complained about noise problems and little gain in overall speed in the current line, I'm wondering which will offer the best bang for the buck. I'll eventually be using FCP3 burning DVDs on whatever I get, but I'm unsure of the difference between them. I've seen that everymac.com lists the street value of the QS Feb 2002 dual GHz as worth a few hundred more than the current stock-configured dual GHz, and that these were going fast in August when smalldog and others had a few still in stock. Moreover, the used one also offers the extra warranty.
As an educator, am I better off w/one of the new ones and buying an Apple monitor at the same time, or going w/the "older" model and buying a monitor later w/out the AppleCare plan or rebate?
I could really use some input, especially since there's few reviews available on the new models, and I'm unsure how big of a difference there is between the 167MHz bus speed and the older 133, or the type of RAM each uses. The extra expansion bays are not really necessary in my work, either.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Rick
