:D Haha, you guys are funny!
I like to think so. :)
Just wait for the releases by Otterbox and Switcheasy. Those will be your best bets.
Switcheasy has a silicone case, but they will most likely release a hard shell case in the future (I would assume, at least.)
Yes. I am currently in wait of a TRIM, Rebel, or Cara. Hopefully soon. :(

Ipad 2? The switch on the side- go to settings and change it from orientation lock to mute...
iPad 1 - just use the mute switch?
This not a hardware issue. It works the same on both models of iPad. It is a feature of iOS, if you have a current version.

Microsoft has announced that it has halted development on a universal version of VirtualPC.
In a statement on Monday, Microsoft said it "has made the decision not to move forward with a Universal version of Virtual PC at this time." -- via News.com (http://news.com.com/2100-1012_3-6102930.html?part=rss&tag=6102930&subj=news)
VirtualPC has long-been the king of the hill for Virtualization on Macintosh. With the Intel transition, however, came competitive pressure from Parallels (http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop/), which has since released the final version of its product, and VMWare which is showcasing a beta (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060805151513.shtml) of its solution at WWDC.
Microsoft has claimed that to port VirtualPC to Intel would be much like making VirtualPC 1.0 all over again.
Because of how closely virtualization software is tied to an operating system, Microsoft said that moving Virtual PC to the Intel-based Mac would be "similar to creating a version 1.0 release."

Well everyone is predicting a few month delay. This is going to mess with my 2 year upgrade plan. Do I upgrade later or upgrade earlier...
I'm in in the same boat as you. My upgrade is in early May and I can't decide if I should get the iphone 4 or wait based off rumors...
but I think I'm just going to with the iphone 4, it already fits all my needs and I don't see what else apple could do for me in improvements for the next phone

let me see if i understand the resolution thing:
we'll be able to adjust the resolution of monitors to really high settings, but instead of everything having to be tiny (windows, menus, text, etc.), we'll be able to make them normal size without them looking crappy? sounds awesome to me.
You can't adjust a monitor so that it has a higher resolution than it inherently does. However, if you have a high res screen, it can behave at (seemingly) lower resolutions (eg: it can operate at a size similar to 1280x800 on the MacBook), except that it would be sharper than a MacBook's screen because the screen has 1920 x 1200 pixels trying to create a desktop size equivalent to 1280x800. So instead of the 110 dpi LCD screens we have now when a 1920x1200 screen operates as a 1920 x 1200 screen, it would operate with a dpi of like 150 dpi if a 1920x1200 resolution LCD was working to create a desktop similar to a 1280 x 800 workspace.
***But again, correct me if I'm either wrong, or not entirely correct, because I want to understand this as well. :)
But like MarkCollette said, this resolution independence thing does scare me a bit as well. I want things to looks smaller if I have a resolution independent screen. Sure I wouldn't want text to be so small that I can't read it, but if they had a way to scale the text larger while leaving other elements nice and small, it would be rather ace.

1)The who cares line...love it...great reply.
2)The nonsense you speak of is why Amazon is killing the iPad as an e-reader. Don't believe me? Go read the tens of thousands of comments about how hard it is to read a book (not a website....not an email...a book) on an iPad.
We have both an iPad 1 and Kindle. Absolutely no comparison for reading books...iPad just stinks.
Who said anything about fail? You need to ease up and stick to the comments otherwise you look like a fool. Too late I guess.
I am not sure that your premise is correct btw. Amazon has never told anyone if they sell more books on the hardware kindle or the iOS apps..Not even sure how they can measure since I have a kindle, 2 macs, a pc, an iPad, and an iPhone all on my kindle account.
One more point on this subject, I have never purchased an a book from Apple :) The Kindle store is obviously a better choice, no matter what device you have.

I've been following 256gb SSD prices for a while, and I've seen hardly any movement.
Also, I know shortly before the end of there was a lot of chatter about Intel's entry into the market and how prices would soon go down.
From what I've seen, none of that has materialized.
Does anyone have any ideas or insights about this? I'm personally only concerned w/ drives around 220gb and up.
Of course, my motivation to write this is that I'm dying to buy one but have been trying to hold out... :) Can't hold on much longer...
thanks much

Oh, I see. If iTunes is downsampling for the iPad (most powerful iDevice), I highly doubt it will play on an iPod. Keeping a dual-library really is the only way to go.

Keep in mind that Apple probably realizes that the current 'music' iPod can't evolve into a 'video' iPod without giving up so much that we love with it now. They realize that if they are going to make a true video iPod the ergonomics will have to change.
That makes a lot of sense to me! This would be a new type of iPod while still retaining the current iPod models, much like when the Mini came out. They design one device for music and another for movies. Both can do both things, but each one is designed to do one or the other best.
I want a large capacity (100GB+) audio iPod. No movies, no photos, no games. A black and white screen and a long battery life.
I hope they do keep moving forward with "audio" iPods. That said, I do like the color screen. Biggest reason: album covers!
