Better be cheaper
I don't ever think Apple would price their products based on the chip. They're not going to let a chip dictate how they price their powerbooks. Looking at their history, a major and radical price change would seem very unlikey. It's almost a certainty.

I haven't found anything that works well for Windows. I would recommend that you give MacDrive a try or look a Paragon. Both are well maintained and if there is an issue have tools to help you repair the partition.

Yeah, seriously. I don't think there's ANYTHING that anyone could text me, spelling error or no, that would cause me to fly into a murderous rampage.

Hello... First Post... Its a little long winded but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a dedicated Power Mac G4 2001/2002 (733mhz 1.5GB Ram single processor) linked up to a specialist large format scanner. The G4 operates solely on OS9.2 as the large format scanners software can only work on OS9.2, but this G4 is starting to struggle, possible capacitor issues. I do not have the scanning software discs so am unable to install them onto another computer, and without this software and OS9.2 I would be unable to use my scanner, massive knightmare that I really want to avoid. Ideally I need to try and clone this G4 onto another G4. I have recently obtained a second Power Mac G4 (733mhz 1.5Gb single processor) but it is operating on OSX and does not have OS9 installed on it.
Q: Is it possible to clone my current Power Mac G4 (the OS9.2 operating system & its specialist scanning software) and make an exact clone onto the Power Mac G4 that currently has OSX installed on it?
I have never cloned a computer before, if the above is possible, then I would so greatly appreciate any step by step instructional advice on the above.
Kind Regards,

It would be much easier just to open both PowerMacs, and take the Hard Disk Drive (with OS 9.2 and all your files on it), and install it into the new PowerMac. - All it takes is a screwdriver, and its really easy in those machines :)

That seems like a really cool program, especially if you are looking to create a gif from your favourite TV show, or something.
What are you wanting to do with the program, though? Because you could always pause the movie or video you are trying to cap from and press control+shift+4, this brings up a box which makes a cap of only the parts of the image that are selected, and conveniently saves it to your desktop.
I understand if you are trying something a little more complex, though, that this would be a tedious and inappropriate way of going about it. :)

I just don't get the obsession with crippled anorexic laptops. The latest 15" MacBook Pro could stand to be force fed a BBQ sandwich or 5, get the ExpressCard slot back on it.
Hell, I'd prefer a MacBook Pro 15" more like a Toughbook.
A USB-only Air makes baby Jesus cry. Maybe if/when it gets thunderbolt.

Did a crazy thing. tired of waiting on the iPad2 jailbreak, and now read that comex has dropped the project. so I ordered a jailbreakable iPad 1 as a fill-in.
AT&T has(d) the ipad1 3Gs for about half price. $329 (16gb), $429 (32,64). figure I can use it and resell it at near cost. It's a refurb with 90 days warr. whatda think?
I like tweaking and adding non-Apple functions and the iPad 2 has been less used w/o a jailbreak. I used my previous iPad1 32gb 3G a lot more. I sold it for over $800 in March, it had the unlimited data Plan that many people want. I've been reverting use to an iPod Touch 4gen with the retina screen, also a great device and more portable.

Movist is Universal and should run on a PPC Mac and in 10.5.8: http://code.google.com/p/movist/
Thank you.
I'd never heard of it having used VLC on both Windows and Macs.
Am going to have him try it and it does appear as if it will work.
If there are any problems, I will be back. :p
Thank you!

Although the Flurry article spins this as being positive for ios/android gaming, I'm not really sure that the numbers support that interpretation. Last year, they included only iphones and ipod touches in their data and found that they had 5% of the market. This year, they added iPads, android smartphones, and android tablets (huge market that...), and found that the numbers only went up to 8%. I don't really find that to be very impressive.
Meanwhile, consoles, all of which are ~5 years old, increased their market share from 71% to 76%. In other words, consoles' market share increased almost twice as much smartphone/tablets' did, even though the ios/android data now includes a lot of devices that weren't counted previously.
And - to reiterate what a lot of other posters have said - touchscreen gaming is can be excellent for puzzle-type games, such as angry birds. It does a good job with accelerometer based games, such as doodle jump. But it is kludgy and inferior for most other type of games, including FPS games, and it will remain so until there is some sort of standardized controller with actual buttons and joystick(s).

Are there any other lame ancient world predictions about the end of the world once we get past 2012? I'm kind of getting sick of all of these end of world predictions that everybody swears is accurate and then nothing happens.
I hope we can get past 2012 and all this end of the world nonsense will finally stop for awhile until the year 3000 at least.
A few earthquakes do not mean the end of the world. It just means the area hasn't been as active in awhile and there has been a lot of built up pressure.

(3) What is the name of the PC troll, who:
>was proud of using a PC
>made only PC pro posts
>lived in the location of "buthole"
>and likes to have anal sex with chicken and other barnyard animals?
(This is all one person, as freaky as that sounds.)
ROFL, ive never read a post of his but that character sounds hilarious (in a worrying 'league of gentlemen' way). The idiot couldnt even spell butthole properly. Strange, from the sound of him thats probably where he hid his fingers.
Spikey got into arguments with 3-ish people, not one. He didnt leave, he got banned, he found the forum lacking in a sense of humour. So he went out in a blaze of flaming.

I don't even notice the rating, and on the rare chance I do, the negative/positive rating has no bearing on the content of the thread, so in the end I ignore it.
I guess what I'm saying is, that rating doesn't really provide any benefit.

Correct me If I'm wrong but I believe that i0nic is working on the unthether exploit that will be used to jailbreak the ipad2
Nope he specifically said in his tweet that he is not involved in any ipad2 jb. Only people working on the ipad2 jailbreak are p0sixninja (chronic dev team) who is collaborating with musclenerd and maybe comex. Basically they are trying to find a bootrom exploit to use which can not be patched by updates. i0nic only found kernel exploits which can not be used without further root access.

You're right.
I looked at the docs for applicationShouldTerminateAfterLastWindowClosed and it says:
It sends this message regardless of whether there are still panels open. (A panel in this case is defined as being an instance of NSPanel or one of its subclasses.)
So you need to handle this somehow, possibly like this:
- (BOOL)applicationShouldTerminateAfterLastWindowClosed:(NSApplication *)theApplication
{

It would not be much of a loss if Microsoft decided to pull the plug. Don't think they haven't taught about it. A three percent market share or 19 million desktop users does not even come close to the numbers that still use Windows 2000, never mind Windows 98. I of course don't wish this to happen, but it is one logical outcome.
Maybe so, but there are millions of Mac being sold every year, and there will always be percentage of these users who are perfectly willing to buy Virtual PC, Mac Office, Windows XP, and eventually Windows Vista when it's released, to use on their Mac's. Remember, that's a lot of money, and would Microsoft really not want to have their share of the pie?

I think it's possible you will see Apple come out with a different stand-alone display for a different market segment.
Apple sells a boatload of laptops, and everyone where I work that uses them, has a screen in their office that they connect to when they are in. The ACD is just not the screen for this market segment. It's too expensive and has all kinds of high end qualities that these folks don't need (or even know about.)
We might see Apple come out with a screen something like that rumored docking station. Glossy, thin, built in isight etc., and made primarily to connect to your laptop. The screen part however, would likely be of "acceptable" quality only, like the one in the current 17" iMac, and thus cheaper. This is a fairly low-end, cost conscious market though and not somewhere Apple generally tries to compete, so who knows.
Apple coming out with a low end display, is like saying Apple is going to release a cheap midtower. It's not going to happen. The low end display and midtower are already out, it's called an iMac.

Any word on a buying limit? I was originally buying one for my wife and me, but my dad just called from St. George who preordered with Simply Mac. They just told him they don't expect their stock now until the end of next week, so I'll be trying to buy 3 now.
