The original Ariport card has an inflated value right now, but as the G3 and older G4 machines stop being used they will become less valuable. If you want to make some money I'd say sell now - I doubt the value will go up much more.

The reason MacBU has had to abandon VBA is that the Mac compiler won't work on Intel Macs. And Microsoft has already announced that VBA is being deprecated on Windows (it will go on working for a few years, then will end). So there's no point devoting enormous efforts to making a new compiler only for it all to go away shortly afterwards. There is some reason to believe that eventually VB.NET will work on the Mac as it does on Windows, as a cross-platform solution. Until then, VBA macros need to be translated to AppleScript. There can be no better signal that MacBU is committeed to the Mac than to see the huge investment they have made in AppleScript. Office's AppleScript is already working as of Office and it mirrors the VBA model identically: macros can be translated to AppleScript _now_, and will then "just work" in the next version of Office too.
Interesting information.
So Office 2004 AppleScript can translate VB on the fly (and 2007 VB can translate AppleScript), or that's the goal and we aren't there yet?
If they can keep the scripting compatible, then I can definitely see a plus in dropping VB for Mac Office.

I like the idea of the air but I wouldn't touch one until they get a modern CPU in there. Core 2 Duo doesn't cut it in 2011.

Make sure you're using iTunes 4. Anything before that doesn't support AAC files. Once you have iTunes 4, go into the preferences, under the Importing button and choose AAC. As for the track names, it's not iTunes that recognizes it or not, it's the CDDB, a database which is accessed over the internet, meaning that your computer must be connected to the internet for it to pull up track titles and such. Yeah so I ran TU and it was only able to save for 4.3. Can anyone think of a reason to jailbreak 3.2.2 and save those to Cydia before going up to 4.3? I'm trying to think of any possible reason why I'd want to go back to 3.2.2. At this point, it seems like everything 4.3 offers is better. And I have to believe that an untethered jb will happen eventually...

personally I would use that $40 to buy a small bluetooth dongle.... and few cups of starbucks.
This has crossed my mind. I wonder if I'm OCD, though. The thought of that cable being detached, or not having functionality native to the Mini, drives me bonkers. I haven't ruled out a dongle, though.

I called up my mobile carrier in Switzerland:
I have a (quite expensive) one year contract. They all say the phone is officially locked for two years. I argued that what happens after the one year contract ends? Most of the call agents said: "You'll have to wait two years, it's a decision made by Apple". It's funny, because this company has only been selling the iPhone 4, which started (at least here) in August 2010.
Funny. I called Apple and the technician said (and asked his boss) that the mobile carrier can request an unlock and it will be done usually in 48 hours.
So according to Apple (any?) mobile carrier can request an unlock, send the IMEI (and serial no.?) and it will be unlocked fully automatically through Apple's server in the U.S. through iTunes...
I'm still trying to get my iPhone officially unlocked through my mobile carrier...quite difficult...I have been transferred like six times already...

I think they removed it, but according to Andrew Welch (president of Ambrosia Software), "Everything that was free in the older, free WireTap continues to be free in WireTap Pro. You can use it to your heart's content to record AIFF recordings, and never pay for it." If you use other features, an unregistered message is dubbed over your recordings until you register.

I'm in need of a new camera. I'm currently using a Canon Powershot A630. I've had it for 5 years now, and it's served me extremely well. I love the image quality. Unfortunately, it keeps turning itself off now when I go to take a picture. It's been dropped, and I fear I damaged something.
I'm looking for a new point and shoot camera that takes quality pictures. I'm not interested in a DSLR due to cost and portability. I'd ideally like something a bit smaller than my old Canon. I'd gladly go for another Canon. I'd like it to take an SD card. Some degree of optical zoom is a must (I think that goes without saying). I'd really like a camera that still has a viewfinder. I'm a freak like that, I know, but in sunlight it's too hard to see LCDs and I want some way to work without one.
I'd really like the camera to have a geotagging feature. This would be awesome with Places in iPhoto.
Price range: sub $300.

It's impressive that the iPhone is doing so well in the face of the continual public bashing that AT&T is always taking. Does the iPhone have such allure that people are willing to switch to an inferior carrier just to own the device? That itself is pretty amazing.
If that mythical Verizon iPhone does appear in Apple will pretty much own the US smartphone market.

These people may not have split the atom or cured cancer, but they made a whole lot of people happy over the years. To me, that's a very worthwhile contribution and is a life well spent. The show was mainly before my time, so I didn't even get much out of it personally, but I still appreciate all the happiness he brought to people in the world.

If anything, I am pumped to get a chance to catch up on my backlog. :rolleyes: There really isn't much I want this fall/winter....perhaps LBP2, but I'll have to wait and see if the story mode is still focused enough on fun and cuteness, and not "let's see how many different genres we can cram in here now".
