i'm thinking they could be waiting for iOS5 release, or that they really are having a hard time fully jailbreaking iOS 4.3.2.
Either way, I'm kinda bummed. I bought the iPad2 thinking it was already Jailbroken but to my astonishment it is not. :(

I vote for people who favor higher taxes on the rich...
Shocking.
Oh man Michael Moore is such a blithering blowhard.
If he REALLY thinks that "These people" do not help anyone, I invite him to produce his next "film" with his own home made camera (some rich bastard no doubt invented all these nice cameras for his own benefit), build his own theater for showings (Bastard rich multimedia conglomerations!) in the nude (bastard clothiers trying to make a profit from keeping people clothed!) with his own 2 hands (Bastard tool corporations!).
Until then, he continues to be a certifiably grade-A moron, not to mention a hypoxcrit of UNREAL proportions.

Yep. That is why the viphone did not sell through... Verizon customers have lots of excellent choices when it comes to smart phones. No question if you are using a late model top tier android device like the dx it is Painful going back to a viphone. Add to that real 12Mbit plus downloads only on Verizon and only on android phones and apples offerings are not even in the game. A viphone 5 with lte would make it a bit more interesting but I'm not holding my breath. Buddy has a Atrix on atandt and gets 300 down.... its pitiful.
The viphone kills in video conferencing though....
Not sure what "issues" you're having, but I've had 4.3 (never seen it called "4.3.0" since there's no such thing, Math 101), but I don't have gyro issues, and my battery life is fantastic. I can't say I use facetime much, but when I have I've had no issues. Sounds like you might have a device issue, not a widespread OS issue. When Apple released 4.3, it was widely understood that it was released to plug the jailbreak.... tho it seems for many that "issues" suddenly are realized when Apple releases a "fix" ... I have a feeling that you're the type that if Apple releases 4.3.2 to fix "volume issues" you'll suddenly complain that you hate 4.3.1 because of the volume bug, even though you'd never mentioned it until they said they're fixing it. That's the type of person psychics prey on... lol.
This is why I ditched iPhone and went to Android 2 months ago. I got sick of the waiting game for jailbreaks. I have no right to a jailbreak, I just wanted it sooner, and the devs have had a harder and harder time making it happen for every OS release. Android on the other hand, has everything I jailbreak for already built into the OS... widgets, better multitasking, personal hotspot (not ad-hoc crap, etc). I bought an iPad assuming the chatter about "it's almost here" from 3 weeks ago wouldn't be like the Christmas promises that didn't come through till February for iPhone, but again I was disappointed.
Again, I don't feel entitled to something, my frustration isn't with the Dev Team, it's with Apple. They're focusing sooooo much energy on fighting jailbreaking that Android has focused the same time on building the features and OS that users want. If this thing doesn't come out in the next week this iPad is going back. Apple already lost me in the phone business, guess they want to alienate me as a tablet customer too?
Ok, queue the Apple fanboy flamers... it's fine, I can take it. I speak from reality not fanaticism. 1 year ago iOS owned the market, now Android does. Give it one more year and it won't even be close if Apple continues to treat customers like prisoners. That didn't work out well for them in the 80s, which gave MSFT the ammo they needed to permanently take the market, and this isn't panning out any different.

they are having trouble with the A5 bootrom. Looks bad.
But a userland exploit works, at least for 4.3 and partially for 4.3.x
Yhe reason the 4.3 jailbreak has yet to be released is that the hack contains apple code, and distrubuting the jailbreak would be piracy.
So i think he is trying to write his own code to exchange the apple parts.

I like Pages for small documents (<20 pages). It has very crisp text display and it is quite nippy in use. The exposed features are quite comprehensive in a single-user environment and the application is quite fun to use. I have yet to try Mellel's word processor however, that is meant to be very good.
It certainly doesn't have the quirks of Word, but it has its own quirks that can be very annoying. For example it wants to be Page Oriented, but then acts like a word processor within each Page, allowing you to have multi-page Pages (that the page template doesn't apply to). WTF?! I admit I didn't get iWork the upgrades didn't seem worthwhile. Hopefully iWork 2007 will be more tempting.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you start with a blank page, Pages works just like any other word processor. Mellel takes a very interesting approach. I spent some time with it in an earlier version but decided to move to Pages when it came out. Unfortunately, anything that doesn't look and act just like Word is not going to be an acceptable alternative for many people.

I'm picking up an original iPad for $250 and it's currently on 3.2.2. I want to update it to 4.2.1 and jailbreak it using Greenpois0n. Any advice on the right way to go about doing this? As far as I know, it's never been jailbroken up to this point.

It's really optimized for HD video. It has low resolution which will really stand out when used for other than video. TN rather than IPS panel which has a reduced viewing angle. The large cited contrast range is done by dimming the screen backlight with dark content, which is a reasonable trick for video but would be totally annoying for computer use.

I have a mint condition, barely used original Airport card. nothing is occuping the card. Should I keep the card for a few years then try to sell and makes some big bucks because they are already rare? Or, should I just go sell now and make $130 or something like that.
Sorry if it doesn't sound right or punctuation is wrong... I just woke up :o

A TON of people got skunked today.
The supply constraints persist....

If you don't want the optical drive, there is a special data doubler you can get for the 2009 Mac Mini which allows you to have two drives installed.
You could have a SSD for a boot drive and a high capacity mechanical hard disk to store your data, or a few mechanical hard disks for maximum storage.
OWC does have an install video and iFixit does have a good detailed guide on how to upgrade the hard drive in your Mac Mini. Well worth taking a look at those. The advice they give is very useful even for the experienced tech.

Storage is truly a subjective matter. From a long term perspective, it will all depend on your needs & how many images you shoot/ expect to shoot. Anything you do, should have a redundancy back-up, whether it be a duplicate HDD, DVD's or storage online. However, as has also been pointed out, there is no need for Black's/ 7200 drives, when it comes to archiving. Green's/ 5900's are quite sufficient.
Agreed. What I find to be more resource intensive are the steps taken for redundancy to prevent total data loss.
And I thought I read that someone claimed that OS X has built-in RAID? I don't think that that's quite correct: the system can support a software-based RAID 1, but it still requires having two physical disk drives to be thus set up .. it isn't automatic.
The following is my own experience with how I needed to adjust for future growth:
When I switched to Digital SLR's in I invested in a pair of 500GB Seagate Free Agent External HDD's, to back up my images to. In I added a pair of 1TB Seagates in an External Enclosure, and configured them in RAID 1. This device is connected via FW800, and is blazing fast, where as the USB driven Free Agent's, seem to move at a snails pace, though they are USB 2. Up to this point my DSLR's only shot on avg an 8-10MB Raw File, so I wasn't burning through storage, all that fast. However, as newer tech has come out, larger files were inevitable.
"wasn't burning through ... all that fast." Well said :D.
I moved from a 4MP digital p&S to a dSLR in 2005/6 (8MP Canon 20D) which was what started my bit-burning. Retrospectively, the ~4000 images (RAW/JPG) from my first Africa trip was what I'd now consider a "mere" 40GB.
FWIW, I had a Seagate FreeAgent 750GB with the FW upgrade card from roughly this same time period as a backup; just had it go bad last month...ironically, not the HDD itself but somewhere in the electronic controller boards.
I also had two older 250GB PATA drives sitting around, which I made into an external FW800 RAID1 to use as a redundant backup to the Seagate 750.

Thunderbolt is a mini-display-port with a few extra pins.
EDIT: I can't quickly find detailed information, but it may be simply MDP with a more complicated and adaptable controller. Either way, it's not just a re-name, it's a whole new technology that just uses an existing port as its interface.

Every time I read these threads I'm reminded why I don't have an iphone. Yeah, I have many other Apple devices, including a 3G iPad, but no iphone. I refuse to be a slave to the man. I wish subsidized devices didn't exist in this country. It reduces competition by locking people into contracts and ultimately holds technology back. Yeah, more people can own the "coolest" phone, but IMHO the ends don't justify the means.

Makes sense.
A new designed iPhone in 2011 shouldn't be expected. Far too early too be bored with the iPhone 4.
Unless you're in the 1% of geeks or one of those "OMG I'll die if a new iPhone doesn't come out" spoiled kids out there who need new phone's, ipads, OS's, UI's every few months.
Spec bump in redesign in 2012 - that's one to bet on.

Interfacelift seems to be a very popular site for backgrounds. Vladstudio is good but it doesn't really get updated very often; but I suppose Interfacelift has lots of different people's work on it.

I've tried calling at least five times in the last hour and they won't answer the phone. What time are you going to line up tomorrow?
5 min before you do! :D
I guess it all depends on the weather and how late I'm up playing with my ipad2 tonight.
I'll try and ping them also.
