So, I tried to use iFile to edit, but when I navigate to the general.plist file, I can;t do anything. If I open it, I see a couple of values, but nothing like what is shown. This is directly on the iPad. I also have iPhone explorer on my desktop and I can't open the file there either.
When you click it, there should be an option to edit as either a plist or as text. I couldn't find the proper key when I edited as plist, so just do text. The easier way might just be to download the files from the link and copy them over to the Preferences.app via iPhone Explorer, iFunBox, Cyberduck, etc.
Great find OP BTW!
Edit:
This is the one I used. It has links to the files to just download

Could be wrong but apple have the iPhone, iPod, iPad vs android os which is in basically every new manufacture phone, motorola, htc, samsung, lg, etc... each having at least 5 phones with the os....only thing those number proves is that there's a Lot of android os out there............and most people use them because of the price...doesnt tmobile have some free android phones they give out when you sign up with a new contract....? In conclusion everybody and their mothers put android os in their newly made phones/tablet vs apples few iOS line.....
Huh? They're successful because there's so many of them? That's the strangest argument... Toyota sells more cars than any other manufacturer because they have more cars and more customers to buy them? The only thing that comes to mind is "DUHHH!" lol... the reason all the manufacturers are coming out with Android phones is because people are loving them, and it's the "latest and greatest" and has staying power. It's THE OS going forward, even if iPhone and iOS come out with a new phone in their one-a-year game, it's too late to stop Android's dominance of the market.
Price? Have you even shopped the market lately? Android phones are the exact same price specs to specs as i Phone. To buy a motorola Atrix, Evo 4G, or Inspire 4G, the latest "comparable" (used loosely because you can do a lot more on them) phones to a 16GB iPhone you're looking at $150-250 with a contract, just like iPhone.
Sure, you can get phones with less features for cheaper (not sure about free, maybe)... and can buy them on prepaid, etc.... but that's because the OS is an open OS, so it's not "you have one option, take or leave it" ... they actually give customers a choice, like what would have saved Apple from losing their grip on the #1 spot years ago.
Android really has given users what they asked Apple for for years in a phone, and it paid off. Now they're looking to give tablet users CHOICE and features, something Apple still is uninterested in, so the game will play out the same. I love Apple (long time iMac\MacBook Air\iPad user)... but I won't sit around and be a fanboy like the people on here, while there are cool options that don't require me to use a half-ass device while awaiting jailbreak.

I keep reading about MacRumors members running into each other at Target, Best Buy, etc. Since this is a huge forum, full of individuals with a shared love for Apple products, I thought I would throw this out there.
Have any of you members met each other in order to make a trade that is mutually beneficial? I ask because I have a brand new, unopened 32GB Black WiFi only iPad 2 that I bought from Target on Wednesday. I haven't opened it because I'm hoping to find a white version with the same specs.
Anyone within 50 miles of Champaign, IL (61820) have an unopened white version and looking to get the black version. If so I would be willing to meet and do a straight up swap somewhere in the middle of our locations.
Chances are slim, and I won't die if I have to wait but I thought I would take a shot. Also, if Target takes back iPads that are opened and don't charge a restocking fee then I guess I could just open the one I have and use it until I find a white version. Anyone else using this tactic?

Ambrosia Software (http://www.ambrosiasw.com) hosted a booth at this year's Macworld Expo to promote the some of their new and upcoming software titles for the Mac.
http://images.macrumors.com/article/2008/01/18/030034-ambrosia_500.jpg
Their most recent utility launch was of WireTap Studio (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/) which we've previously previewed (http://www.macrumors.com/2007/09/13/exclusive-preview-ambrosia-softwares-wiretap-studio/) ahead of the official launch. WireTap Studio provides some unique tools for anyone who needs to record or manage audio on their Mac. LivePreview remains the most dramatic feature, allowing you to preview different audio encodings in real time to find the best balance of quality vs. size. I'd expect that podcasters in particular would have an interest in this $69 tool.
iToner (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/itoner/) is an easy-to-use $15 utility that allows you to convert existing songs (MP3, MP4, AIFF or WAV) into custom iPhone ringtones. The just-announced iPhone 1.1.3 firmware breaks iToner functionality, however, but Ambrosia tells us that version 1.0.6 of iToner is in beta testing and will address the iPhone 1.1.3 incompatibility.
http://images.macrumors.com/article/2008/01/18/030034-aquaria_500.jpg
Finally, Aquaria is a new game that Ambrosia will be releasing in "Q1 2008" which is a port of a PC game originally created by Bit Blot (http://www.bit-blot.com/). The PC version of the game was only recently released in December of 2007 and well received (http://pc.ign.com/articles/844/844673p1.html). Aquaria is described as an "action-oriented, non-linear side-scrolling game that uses an innovative and intuitive mouse control system". Pricing has not yet been announced, but downloadable demo will be available upon release.
Finally, Ambrosia is offering a 10% discount Macworld Special (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/mwsf/) on all products which remains good until January 31, 2008.

If you've see the keynote stream, then you'll of come across the part where Steve asked some of his employees (marketing, engineer etc..) to stand up and receive a round of applause.
I thought this was quite a nice gesture and it's the first time I have seen this from them.
Good things!! :claps:

I might actually go to the 2100 best buy because of points and I can put it on my card. Hopefully they will have it in white! I don't think I can camp out, so I will be there in the morning to see how the line goes.
I wonder if other retailers like Best Buy or Wal-Mart will start selling them early or at normal time instead of 5:00 PM?

VPC for the PowerPC was a sluggish piece. M$, if they can't steal it, they buy it or they GIVE UP. They do not have one person working at M$ that can develope technology.

OK I have had an odd problem on both my G5 and iBook. When trying to download an update through Software Update, it downloads just fine and then says there is an error in expanding the file and that I should check permissions on tmp/softwareupdate/etc...
I have updated my permissions with both Cocktail and the Disk Utility but that didn't work. I eventually threw out all pref files that said software update and that seemed to work on the G5. It didn't on the iBook. I also tried downloading with out installing and it said I didn't have sufficient permissions on /packages/ folder. I checked the permissions and it said I have read/write on that folder.
Here's the really weird thing: I downloaded the 2005-003 update from Versiontracker twice and both times it failed to mount with a checksum error. I have run out of ideas and am thinking about reinstalling 10.3 on the iBook. I can't pinpoint anything that has occurred on the iBook to initiate this.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Rob

Is it supposed to be a hardware fix and a new edition of the PS3 or will it be some sort of firmware fix.
Firmware update. Hopefully it'll be in the next update. We'll see.

I made and saved a preset seems to work pretty good. Changed the RF setting to "1". It seems that its working better with this setting. Still sometimes when using iTunes it gets a little blocky only at first, but not through VLC player. It might be an issue with iTunes. Otherwise this setting seems to work pretty good. Ty for the advice, I'm still open to more if anyone has any.

You can buy from a non-university/college network, but it requires that you're 18, and therefore it most likely only applies to university students. Or others in further education past the age of 18.
Edit:Just checked, it also requires that you have a valid student card, so I'm assuming this backs up the above thought.
