ANOTHER GREAT PERFORMANCE

BY
"THE MIAMI CITY BALLET"

Newly promoted soloist Jennifer Lauren danced the role of The Sleepwalker in George Balanchine’s
La Sonnambula for the first time this weekend at Broward Center.

LAST NIGHT AT
THE BROWARD CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
WE HAD THE PLEASURE TO ENJOY
The sleepwalker skimming the stage on pointe in her white flowing gown, her glowing candle held before her; the doomed poet…As Arlene Croce wrote, “The emotion of the ballet comes in a series of nervous shocks, as deeply pleasurable as a horror story. The ending – is high traumatic bliss.”
Twyla Tharp, with her “prankster’s sense of humor” , flings a dozen dancers onto the stage – hustling, spinning, shimmying, yet romantically inclined – to the irresistible stride piano of the immortal Willie “The Lion” Smith.
THE PERFORMANCES WAS SEALED
WITH
One of George Balanchine’s most joyous ballets, Western Symphony, set to themes based on traditional western songs reflects the great choreographer’s lifelong affection for the traditions and myths of America’s far West.

THIS WAS AN AWSOME PERFORMANCE
WHICH IS STILL RUNNING UNTIL JAN 16,2011
FROM HERE THEY WILL TRAVEL TO THE KRAVITZ CENTER

DONT MISS IT
