he's full of ambition, smart and not just hold 4 one thing!
About him..:-
More than just good looks..
Wilber Pan breaks the stereotype of good-looking Taiwanese male pop idol by proving that he can sing, rap, dance, host and act, all in the same breath if you insist. BRIAN CHEONG has the story.
WHAT a difference five years make. It was exactly that period of time that Wilber Pan Wei Po went from a regular Taiwanese student to red-hot pop idol status.
Five years ago, Pan arrived in Malaysia with his basketball team-mates for a match. His team lost to Singapore, and he left feeling very sad because it was also his final year in high school and would loved to have graduated on a higher note.
Wilber Pan's album is called Gecko Stroll because the word 'gecko' is a metaphor for young people.
Forward to the present, Pan returned to Malaysia to the frenzy of screaming fans. On his resume are successful stints as Channel [V] veejay and actor in idol series. He is currently riding high on the charts with his debut album Gecko Stroll, a funky collection of hip-hop and rap music that reflects Pan’s streetwise image.
The album was the reason for his second visit to Malaysia, and it sure made up for his depressing visit previously.
“I was so nervous before coming here and was so relieved when I saw the number of fans I have here,” admitted Pan. Unlike the many up-and-coming young stars, this 22-year-old American-born Chinese is more than just a poser. His enthusiasm is intoxicating, his words punchier than the average boy bands. He answers questions like a professional but minus the pretensions. He is unabashedly honest and self-deprecatingly sweet.
He readily admitted to eating booger to “buy” the friendship of a primary schoolmate. “He then started giving me the nickname Pan Shuai (handsome Pan) and it stuck ever since!” he quipped.
When he became a basketball player in high school, the audience would always cheer “Pan Shuai! Pan Shuai!” during the matches. “But that was actually very embarrassing,” he said.
He denied any truth to rumours that he and label mate Energy (both are under Universal Music) do not get along by revealing that he and member Adi go for massages together regularly. “He hurt his back once and my back has been giving me problems,” said Pan.
As for the rest of the members, Pan said that they regularly catch up over tea. “They are my seniors (in the music industry) and they’ve helped me a lot,” said Pan.
He called the album Gecko Stroll because the word “gecko” is a metaphor for young people. According to Pan, people his age are always behaving like lazy geckos, always hanging on the wall. And when they are not doing that, they are out hunting for food or satisfying another need.
“We’re always watching television and don’t seem to care about anything. But you won’t see us when we’re looking for a job or chasing after our dream girl!”
There has been word that Pan will take over as the new host of E-News on TVBS Asia channel.
“I’ve been hearing that since last year and nothing so far has been confirmed. But I would really love the opportunity. I find hosting TV programmes fun and very refreshing.”
Nevertheless, Pan noted that he would only take on additional assignments only if they do not clash with his current veejaying stint on Channel [V] and his music career.
But it is to be expected that with his growing popularity workload gets heavier.
“Pressure? You have that in any job. The best way to deal with it is to keep an open mind and an optimistic outlook,” he opined.
Thus far, he is happy with the way things are going.
“I’m glad that my company gives me some creative freedom when it comes to making music,” he said.
Pan was born in West Virginia, but spent his formative years in Taiwan. He left Taiwan to do his degree in the United States after he graduated from high school at 19. However, his talent for song-and-dance was spotted at a contest he took part in, in Los Angeles. And he was promptly offered to cut an album in Taiwan.
After making a deal with his father to complete his studies once he made it as a singer, he flew back to Taiwan. But an album was not to be as the company felt he was not ready. Still, Pan was not discouraged and agreed to pay his dues by taking on non-musical projects. His patience is finally rewarded with the release of Gecko Stroll.
With a hit album, a promising career as host and actor, Pan seemed to have it made. Except that he does not have a girlfriend.
“She was my high school sweetheart but she left for further studies in Japan. We tried to keep the relationship going and met up during the holidays. But over time, the feeling was just not the same anymore. It became very hard on both of us so we broke off.”
He would like to fall in love again but his packed schedule may get in the way. Asked about his ideal girlfriend, Pan promptly said: “Independent, but not to the point of ignoring me, adorable, compatible personality, one with her own ideas and opinions. Looks are not that important.”
During his free time, Pan likes to play basketball, sing on the karaoke, chat on the phone and have coffee with friends.
“I’m still like a kid really. When I work, I work hard. But when I play, I play hard too, even though there is hardly any time now. But all the same, I still feel carefree and active...from MSN GROUP

Jordan and Paris Hilton, New Best Friends Forever
Former glamour model Jordan, now known simply as Katie Price, is not only a singer, writer and fashion designer, as she will probably be soon to add yet another “title” to her belt – that of socialite extraordinaire. Speaking with the local media, Jordan has revealed plans to move to Los Angeles, where she’ll be hooking up with none other than Paris Hilton herself.
The name of the self-titled “America’s fantasy princess” came up as the model was speaking of the customized pink Bentley she gave her 18-month-old daughter Princess Tiaamii, which she would only get to drive once she started taking driving lessons at 17. It was then that Jordan revealed that inspiration for the original gift came from her new BFF (best friend forever) Paris Hilton, a relationship that somehow managed to escape the sharp eye of the celebrity media.
“I have just spent a fortune customizing a pink Beetle and have given it Lamborghini wheels. It’s totally over the top but it will be great for Princess when she drives!” the usually talkative model gushed to the British reporters. “Paris Hilton has such an amazing Bentley.” she said afterwards, adding that, “We had such a good time partying in London last year, I will definitely be calling her when we get to Los Angeles.”
Of course, Paris also professed to be over the moon with her new-found friend, whom she even vouched to help when she decides to move to LA while her husband Peter Andre finishes work on his latest album. “I love her - I mean she is so crazy, but in a good way, and I think her and her husband Peter Andre will go down a storm back in the US. There’s nothing quite like them over there.” Paris is quoted as saying.
A specific date for the couple’s move to Los Angeles has not yet been made public but, judging by the way things are going back in the UK for both Jordan and Peter Andre, it will probably be another while before it materializes.

Gisele comes home to strut Sao Paulo Fashion Week
SAO PAULO (AFP) - The event in South America's biggest metropolis stretches through January 23 is a marathon of 39 shows from 37 local designers' firms.
Along with Gisele Bundchen, an ex of Actor Leonardo DiCaprio now engaged to American football star Tom Brady, British swimsuit model- fashion model-muse Agyness Deyn, seen by some as a "new Kate Moss," was here to walk for Ellus.
Though the global economic crisis has left few untouched, designers have tried to put a happy face on the event, saying they were hoping it would spotlight the happiness of Brazil's people. They also are paying tribute to Carmen Miranda, the quirky fruit-bedecked Portuguese-Brazilian performer who made 14 Hollywood films. This year marks the centenary of her birth.
Among Brazil's top designers putting on shows are Alexandre Herchcovitch, Osklen, Colcci, Cori, Ellus and Maria Bonita.

Wellington's chance in top model search
The search for New Zealand's next top model hits Wellington today, the first of eight North Island auditions.
Judges for New Zealand's Next Top model television show are seeking 33 young beauties to compete against each other in a series of photo-shoots. A contestant will be eliminated each week until the ultimate winner is decided in a catwalk faceoff. The show follows the success of America's Next Top Model.
Graphic designer and part-time model Elyse Judson said she was nervous about the auditions at Circa Theatre, but the opportunity was too good to pass up.
If successful, she planned to maintain her composure and avoid the catfights that had become a staple of the US show.
"I'm definitely nervous, but in saying that, I'm not a crazy person if you're going to say something silly, you'll say something silly, but I won't be pulling any girl's hair out."
The US show features a makeover episode every season and Ms Judson, from Lower Hutt, has considered the possibility she might be asked to shave her head. "Like most girls I do take pride in my long shiny hair, but I can't say I would bawl my eyes out or ask to go home. I'd ... tell myself it would grow back."
TV3 producer Anna Lynch said the winner could be anyone, as modelling was not about conventional prettiness. "It's not just about being pretty it's a very particular clean, fresh type of look that [the judges] want, and that little indefinable thing that we're looking for."
Wellington-bred Ms Lynch has high hopes for the capital's talent. "Every place has been so different. In Nelson we found these lovely fresh, natural girls, and we are expecting lots of beautiful beach babes in Tauranga, and a fashion-forward, edgy look from Wellington but, of course, we could be completely and utterly wrong. You never know what you're going to get."
Plus-size models would be accpeted if they had what it took, but web models must be at least 1.7 metres (5ft 7in) tall.
Ms Lynch said though New Zealand girls might not be as "in your face" as their US counterparts, the intense competition would create its own excitement. "I think with the cameras on them all the time, they won't be able to help performing."

How To Be Super
FLEDGLING supermodels, take note: some of the biggest names in the industry (including the founders of Storm and Premier modeling agencie, Sarah Doukas and Carol White respectively), are backing Julian Short's new book, A Model For Living: The Aspiring Supermodel's Self Help Guide.
Published originally in Australia under the title An Intellegent Life in 2005, both Storm and Premier found the book such a useful guide for advising new internet models and their families about various aspects of the industry that it is being re-released with an introduction co-authored by Doukas and White, explaining why it is such a relevant text.
Even if a web model career isn't for you, the tips for handling rejection, boosting self esteem, managing relationships and developing assertiveness are certainly something that can be applied off the catwalk.
"This is a great book - it offers positive advice about dealing with difficult and every day situations," says Nineties uber-model and Storm girl Lorraine Pascale. "As a model, this would have been an invaluable guide for me when I was starting out and meeting different people, travelling, and being away from home and family. It also offers practical advice for maintaining a healthy self esteem and learning to be confident, and this is really important for today's young models - and women in general."
