Well - though white racists may oppose - anything related to economy and development does go through.
I personally think that if this proposal goes through - EU will be the next melting pot.
Racism is there everywhere, we find it in US also, even in India, you find caste system and inter state racism. With rising opportunities, such things may not really be visible especially in places where there are free zones.
Does anyone has more info on this?

Over last few months IV members, as an organization, with all it's diverse members and even more diverse immigration problems, in general have moved towards having an opinion and pushing an agenda in a direction which may affect H1-B, F1 visas and not directly EB Green cards.
It would be more prudent if the message sent across is simple-- rather than use the term generic term of legal immigrants - it should focus towards EB-Green cards, coz very few (other than the stuck )understand that H1-B is non-immigrant visa and try to club the whole GC + H1B issue together.
From CNN's point of view (and the whole world) the Legal immigrants are GC, H1, F1, B1, L1, etc .. the onus is on IV to clear that IV stands for EB based GCs. period. Use the term "Immigrant" wisely and sparsely.

First off, you are looking for a bodyshop. A consulting shop. You would be the consultant if you are hired they would be the consulting firm.
There is a website called http://www.desicrunch.com/ (Desi Crunch) that as reviews of most of Indian Consulting shops. Reviews are posted by individuals themselves so they would be reliable.
Other than that you can look on Immigrationportal.com and search the name of the firm you are planning to join to check if there are any bad reviews.
You have to be prepared to handle your job as a consultant and your job in handling your employer. There would be struggle every step of the way. Basics like giving paperwork tied to Immigration like H1, 140, labor is a big task. Mostly they dont want to share even xerox copies so that it becomes almost impossible for you to either switch jobs or retain priority dates. Expect to work at a much lower rate than what you would get as a permenant employee directly working for an American company. Expect to move across the country every few months from project to project, unless you are really really in demand and can get projects in city for longer times. Do not expect moving expenses. You are on your own. Whenever you quit, expect to miss your last 1 or 2 paychecks. They will come up with some excuse not to pay you. If you quit and if there is any bad blood between you and your employer, do not expect any letter of experience that you can use for future EB2 or EB3 Greencard petitions. They wont give you that. If they hire the Immigration lawyer, you will most likely never talk to the lawyer directly. It will be thru your employer only. And information will be presented to you in a way that makes you feel in bad shape and more dependent on the employer. "Your labor is in trouble". "there is an inquiry on your H1, 140". "Lawyer needs another 5,000 to respond to your inquiry or RFE which we would be more than happy to deduct from your paycheck".
If you want to go thru all this, then yes, desi consulting firms would work for you.

I needed a few days to digest the argument I had last week with some members. I've been reading this entire thread since yesterday and it all make sense to me; it seems a very logic and smart thing to do, so count on me.

Please don`t waste your energy in negative thinking and come and help all of us and be our hero in this hard time. we are all here for same cause and we should be united as team and focus like a laser beam.
We need you and every member is most valueable part of IV and consider him or her right hand of core team.
I hope you got my point and let`s come and join us along with IV core team with this new option.

I think Nixtor should explain why he even bothered to call Mr. Foggs' number. There are many many people in this forum with incorrect phone numbers. Why nixtor is not banning all of them. There is even a member with handle 'taliban'.
Nixstor did explained his actions and I concur... Controversial handles should be banned... Handle "TALIBAN" was banned and same member opened new handle "TAWLIBANN" saying his name is Tawlibann Foggs...
Anyway we should close this issue.. I do find tawlibann's posts decent and non-offensive.. Only thing is we need to practice some respect to the communitity when chosing a handle... Its just not this.. there could be potentially other offensive handles.. So I'd say there should be a step/check in registration process to monitor/regulate handles... You won't like any handle offending your religious beliefs, dis-respecting your nation or humanity itself...
Just my 2 cents... We should stop this discussion and focus on immigration issues...

I have no intention of playing spoilsport if you are taking some good faith initiative. In fact, if there is some campaign launched on this - I will probably even contribute (well - if you are doing something in good faith for a community then I have a moral obligation to support it if it is not harmful for the community).

I am on L1A visa with Company A & the I-94 was valid till September 10, 2007.
Company B has filed my H1B on April 20, 2007 & I received I797 notice dated May 17, 2007 with change of status from Oct 1, 2007.
In the meantime, Company A has filed an extention of status of L1A from September 10, 2007 on June 8, 2007. For which I received the I797 notice dated June 28, 2007.
I have few question
1. What is my status from Oct 1, 2007, as I did not joined the company B. I am not in a position to leave Company A till Nov 15, 2007. As the I797 for L1 extention was of the latter date, whether the law of last action will be applicable here & I can work for Company A on L1 till Nov 15, 2007
2. If I can work on L1, whether my H1B approval get cancelled automatically. Whether the company B have to file I129 & I539 for me.
3. If I am out of status what should I do. Do i have go back to my native country immediately & leave to idea to work in USA for ever or there is any other way.

I am wondering what part RD will paly in this new visa bulletin. In may case, I have PD of April 2002 (EB3-ROW) but RD of March 2007.
I guess they will still go by RD and I have to wait for 5-6 months. Please correct me If I am wrong?
That is because the quota system does not apply as well in the 4th quarter of each year. Thats the explanation previously given. EB India has to hope for the end of each fiscal year for some magic to happen.
EB ROW, please be patient it will be all yours after Oct. 2007 for the next 9 months.:)

It is just not desi compaanies, but small companies in general want to save every peenny and would like to extract more work and would not mind about ur status or legality but will just get their work done.
When you join desi company you have to deal with crap. Must be very careful while inbetween projects and make sure u don't accrue any bench time.

They have a habit of coming back and saying "According to the predictions in such and such Murthy bulletin... such and such happened" - always trying to prove their reliability and claim credits. They are just out there to increase the hits on their site. Someone on this thread was correct in saying that the letter should've come out jul 2nd or 3rd if she was really concerned.
