You should've thought about this that whole year that you were goofin' off! Why are you bringing this up at this late juncture, anyway? Your PD is Dec, 2004. What makes you your petition will trigger an RFE for not working during 2001? You raise a very perplexing and contradicting query...

Natually, I am bothered because you never know what USCIS would ask; they are always ready to pull the carpet underneath you. What if IO ask me to prove that I am not out of status ? would I be able to show the proof? No! I can't...

The problem with this guy is he has got his GC and now he doesn't want anybody to have it. Basically he enjoys when people are having of pain. That's the reason he doesn't want any progress in PD's. Dude, if you don't like if people are talking about positve things such as "PD becomes Current" then my humble request to you is just stay-out of any converstations.

Assuming USCIS told DOS that they have used 80/90K for the fiscal year so far, DOS is left with 60/50K for the last quarter of the fiscal year. How can DOS imagine/understand availability of 50/60k visas to be less demand for EB categories? This is what exactly the initial July VB said and we were all stupefied. They know this in and out and a simple request for pending number of 485's from years, approved & pending 140's since retrogression hit & that do not have a adjoining 485 should come out conservatively to 150-200K. Does DOS ask this as a part of their monthly information gathering process? Yes, they does is the simple answer. Then what led to the making VB current is the esoteric Q here. USCIS will have allocated the numbers at their own pace if the VB was not made current. As the VB was made current, USCIS was forced to use all the numbers and say that there are no numbers. Unless, we hear more stuff from the offices of DOS/USCIS in response to Rep Lofgren, every thing will be speculation.

dont do it ..on L1A under NIW he/she can get a GC without labour. Just file I140 and then 485 NIW ..that would be really stupid to move L1A to H1B

If one gets an H-1B approval now (Jan/Feb), can he start working right away? Or does he have to wait till the start of fiscal year, October?
What if the employer is an NGO or NPO? I believe, it is not counted against the H-1 quota but in that case, can he start working right away?

I think we should also work on making sure that Mr Grassley et al don't get elected to the Senate the next time so that they are not able to bring these useless racist amendments. They will only realize it when it will hurt them politically. All the H1b's and AOS people have relatives or friends who are well qualified to vote . 2. Should core post some article on the home page.."Top 10 Myths About Employment Based Immigration" and include tax as one of the myths.
Reason, i'm saying this is that in my company there are several americans who think that way even though they are ok with immigration. They think that we do not pay any tax here.
3. Educate numberusa and other anti-immigration people about. I know we might not be able to educate the core people over their but we might be able to educate other member joining there.

I wonder who wants to take credit for the elimination of the labor substitution provision that has been (mis) used by the immigrant community as well as some employers. Labor substitution was one of the reasons for the back and forth of priority dates movement. Thankfully, effective July 2007, the labor substitution rule has been eliminated.
The immigration system was more of screwed-up one till March 2005 (not that it is no more a screwed-up system now) when the PERM was introduced. With the introduction of PERM, the priority dates were common for EB labor certification nation-wide. Prior to March 2005, we had a screwed-up policy of state-wise labor-certification backlog where those who filed from states like Maine or Nebraska had an advantage of getting not only the approval of labor certification (form ETA 750-A/750-B or ETA 9089) faster but also having the Green Card in hand much sooner than those who filed from other states.

Its been 8 yrs, 2 recessions, 3 layoffs, marriage, baby, home, an expensive car, and lots of ego.
And, I am still the same!!!!
8 yrs of work, and i grow to become a PM (do my PMP and have a vision to become a program manager some day), and get an assignment at a very good financial firm and with a very good pay per hour as a contractor. I look at my life and go, now that i have what i want, i can go ahead and get more (i go back and think about how i initially came to the country with just 90$ in my pocket and on a H1). So, i start planning about buying a house.
Dont buy a house!!!!!
Parallelly, there is a discussion every where about housing bubble, and how good it is to buy a home now, and "now or never". While others at bay are pleading not to buy a home, because it is about to explode. The ego says, you are invincible. So go ahead. So I do.
Ego!!!!
I look at my 9 month old daughter and say, "she needs an own home and lots of place to run around and play", and not an silly apartment. Afterall, it is your daughter, genius! So, i bring all my money together, leaving almost nothing for reserves, thinking of the job i have and how good i am with the job, and finally purchase the home. Real estate agent milks me and I never see it coming though my wife suggests the same. Issues logistically at closing and some stress and all of it comes to a positive end in about 3 hours.
Stroke!!!
Finally I take the keys, I come home and put the keys in my daughters hands, and my new manager from work from last week calls. Phone is ringing. (The manager that brought me on board 2 months ago leaves the position, and i kept wondering why). I am smiling as i take the call thinking this guy is going to congratulate me, about the purchase of the home. But, 4 minutes later I am shaking and its sweat and i drop like a fly in the chair.
Wife looks at me and says whats wrong? I tell her, I dont have a job any more, and it ends in 2 weeks. For 8 yrs, a number of times I did think about buying a home, and I have always kept away from it for the fear of losing the job, but now (well done EGO!), and I have a home. That too, it had to happen the same day that i closed on the home. I tell myself this is a long time coming.
God!!!
So, while being on bench and employer paying nada, I try to find jobs with all my previous managers, sr.vps, directors who I used to stick with, and nada...no one has a job for me. Start using credit cards and the little reserve for mortgage payments.

One of my previous managers from the last place I worked at, says she has a gig, but as a tester. She knows I am looking for PM, but thats all she has. I worked for her as a project tech lead before.

Have no choice and I am scared already. so, I put my ego aside, call my pride and take the job as a tester. Still making 1200 less from when i brought the home (been 9 months now), daughter is 18 months, still have the home and the car, but not the same person any more. Debt at 11K and waiting for tax returns to erase some of the debt, and request wife to start looking for jobs.
Dont eat out, dont spend much, cook at home, cant think of fancy trips, but still have food to eat with hard earned money, and praying for all those who are
not able to make ends meet.
with all this going on for an year for now, I dont have time for GC any more.

You can also use Mental Rey, and check the "final gather" option. Make sure when you use it you set the rays down to like 10 or 20, or it'll take forever to render.
This will actually make all objects emit a certain amount of light depending on their brightness. For example, a stone wall will not make any noticeable light, but a bright white ball (a light bulb) will act as a omni light. I use this in almost all my renders to achieve a more realistic scene.
That shader glow thing isn't what he wants I think. To add it though, open the attributes of the material, and under the special effects menu you just increase the value from 0. That does not make the object a light though, it adds a glow to the object in post (after the render), and so it does no make any actual light. .... i might be thinking of some other glow thing, soulty's way might work as well

...that the system is severely backlogged and needs repair but to say it is unfair to limit the number of immigrants from one country does not make sense. Removing the per country limit would allow one or two countries to dominate the EB system because their high populations allow them to produce more skilled labor. So removing the per country limit would remove the "bias" off these countries and move it to the ones with lower populations; so, in essence the discrimination would be reversed? Maybe a point-based system that incorporates a per country score would be better?
i think it's an interesting discussion, but what would you say to the argument that if immigration artificially inflates the numbers of small countries beyond their real populations and ends up penalizing larger countries. in other words it creates and artificial distribution favoring certain parts of the world...is that really the goal? is is good? s it fair? it's a monopoly in the reverse way- excess opportunity for an individual from certain countries.

If you have lots of money in the US you may be at risk of losing atleast some part of it. I think buying gold or buying property at a bargain price would be a safe bet. Don't let too much money in the banks. FDIC insurance covers upto $100K for an individual acct.
