im pretty sure u can buy like a kit apple sells to test your knowledge of apple products and duties that come with the job or something like that to see if u are able to handle the Position of GENIUS. But i'm sure they will ask you why you want the job, why do you think you deserve it, do you have good people skills etc. and to answer the p.s. personally i cant stand super fresh haircuts, and idk about the shaving.

Can I ask why you recommend 2 x 1 TB in RAID instead of simply going out and grabbing a 2TB drive? Cheaper? Faster? Sorry, forgive the ignorance...

Not being able to control that thing w/ one hand would be really sketchy, and letting go the ubiquitous scroll wheel, which is a proven interface, would be really unfortunate. I'm willing to say that this may be Apple covering some of its bases from other manufacturers...while Apple continues w/ something resembling the virtual scroll wheel mockups we've seen.

I did some more research on this and it appears that we will have to wait probably for the Linux programmers to port Foomatic to OSX. That is if Epson does not release a driver eventually.
I tried to follow the directions on this site, but this assumes that you are running Linux and that Foomatic is already installed, along with Ghostscript and CUPS. I was able to apply the PPD file for the EPL-5700 to my printer and see it in Print Center but the in between framework is missing: the cupsomatic script and Foomatic system. I can print but the printer does not respond, so CUPS is not sending the data to the printer.
I couldn't figure out where to put the cupsomatic script since OSX does not have the directory substructure of redhat.

I also found this site helpful:

Just drag and drop your ppt file on the Keynote2 app icon (in your Dock if you have it there) and it will open in Keynote.

i suspect we'll see leopard released in january.
I hope you are wrong :)
I want Apple to take the time that is needed to clean and update their APIs as best they can... the 64 bit API switch is their best chance and only near term chance to clean house.

Absolutely, that is exactly what this is!
Of course it isn't.
That said, a portable device that happens to include a mobile phone radio (and is presumably usable as a phone - that doesn't make it a phone any more than a car is a pick-up truck) would be a possibility.
I'll accept that.
Something like the Nokia 770, but with GPRS/EDGE/UMTS in addition to 802.11. Yeah. I can go with that. Some of the supposed prototyped/patented designs kind look like a Nokia 770 too.
For the reasons I've outlined ad-nausium though, something that competes directly with what the bulk of Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson, etc's, business strikes me as improbable.
But a pocketable gadget that successfully integrates various pieces of personal technology and wireless networking seems, well, it's the kind of thing Apple might call a mobile version of "me" ("me" being the user) wouldn't it? They could call it... Mobile Me...
Now, who has that trademark?

Exciting.. now if only the Finder got it's "plumbing" re-routed.
If someone had a great idea about how Finder should look and work, it might be improved. However, since the plumbing is behind the scenes and that's been re-done a lot, it wouldn't help to simply re-route it again.

It's not up to date, it has the latest firmware you can get without paying. Maybe Apple decided to stop selling 2.x and 3.x and that's why it thinks it's up to date. But you can still obtain the firmware from other places, a quick google should do it.

am i the only one a little disappointed at the Apple announcements?
Here's why:
1- only 1 studio signed on for movies, they are purchases, not rentals also.
This is to be expected. Once these take off like wildfire, other studios will fall in line when the realize how much money they're losing. There is precedent for this with Apple's music purchases, so it make sense.
2- ipod changes are not dramatic, more like minor tweaks. Ipod nano even is using an older case design. video ipod is a serious letdown, looks like they can't get the 16:9 model working.
I disagree here. While I think the iPod Nano design is less sexy than before, it's also 1000% less scratchable. While it doesn't bother me much, my black Nano looks more beat up than either of my mini's.
As for the "true video iPod"-- this is Apple waiting to strike until the iron is hot. You can't release all your hot stuff in one go. They have to let it trickle out to maintain momentum. iTV was a good pre-release product and the regular iPods added searching and games that are a VERY NICE new feature.
3- no ipod/smartphone/treo type device.
... nor did anyone think one of these was coming. Maybe an iPhone, but that is clearly not coming until 2007 the last I heard. A lot of people wanted to believe it might come out earlier, but that was just unrealistic.
it is like apple knew they didnt have great announcements so they announced the Itv device.
Well, that is an interesting take on it. You might have something there. However, this was an important thing to pre-announce given the movie announcement. Apple needs people who are purchasing movies to know they can play them on a TV in an easy way. This is buyer's security. They know if they start buying them now they will be able to play them on something other than their iPod or Mac. It also was foreshadowing concerning Apple's HD solutions. Right now you can buy movies and shows in ED (enhanced definition / DVD), whereas previously you could only buy in SD (standard defintion / NTSC.)
To support their movie download and playback strategy, Apple without saying it outright, admitted to having an HD solution which will work with upcoming movie downloads at native HD resolutions, using 802.11n for wireless streaming.

I said an EXTERNAL drive has to be FAT, I have no idea what format the internal drive is. And based on your last post you didn't really try my suggestion, which was to load your videos onto an external drive and then either play them off that or load them onto your internal drive that way.

Leave it up to Apple to take it a step further and give it to the masses.
I can't wait to order one...
